Patricia (Pat) Golden Webb, FACHE

Senior Executive and Board-Level Leader, Healthcare

Patricia (Pat) Golden Webb is a board-level executive who currently serves as a director for Telecare Corporation.

She formerly served as senior executive vice president and chief administrative officer (January 2019 to December 2020) for Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health, one of the nation’s largest health systems. CommonSpirit, the merged entity of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, encompasses 800+ care locations, more than 150,000 employees and $29.2 billion in revenue. Prior to transitioning out of her corporate roles, Webb co-led CommonSpirit’s transformation and national integration efforts. She previously served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer/chief HR officer for Catholic Health Initiatives (December 2010 – January 2019.) During her nine-year tenure with CHI, Webb led the dual functions of administration and human resources, which encompassed the company’s entire operations. Additional areas under her direction also included the company’s foundation, marketing, communications as well as diversity and inclusion.

Webb was one of four senior executives who led the merger and integration between Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health, resulting in the nation’s largest non-profit health care system, CommonSpirit Health (February 2019). Accomplishments:

  • Achieved $250 million in synergies during first year, implemented new cultural model that included key pillars, strategy and brand to support the newly formed entity.
  • Year One Integration: Resolved over 200 Day One issues (such as, how employees are paid, offices, reporting relationships, etc.), which led to smooth internal and external transition, developed top 50 processes and systems and actively drove 500 integration initiatives to completion.
  • Pre-merger: Created and put into place new systems that raised quality standards while producing significant costs savings. For example, a refined benefit program produced $500 million in annual savings, while retirement and paid time off (PTO) updates produced more than $200 million in savings.

Webb previously served as the top human resources and administrative officer at UMass Memorial Health Care and Boston Medical Center, respectively, where she addressed similar challenges bringing two different health systems together into a single entity. Among her responsibilities, Webb negotiated key labor agreements with Boston Medical’s union employees where her disarming, collaborative approach led to mutually beneficial outcomes for all stakeholders.

Webb is uniquely qualified to lead — and provide expertise for how to best manage –the employer/employee relationship that comprises corporate culture. Pat is particularly adept at implementing effective strategies for attracting, hiring and retaining talent and how the outcome of those strategies, a high performing work force, completes mission critical work. Dedicated to serving others through strong customer service, Webb’s career has been defined by bringing large, diverse constituencies together to find common value — and commonly held values. She has consistently delivered results that have led to cost savings, integrated systems, processes and organizational design structures that have helped create environments necessary for growth. Board-level expertise includes:

  • Executive compensation & mergers and acquisitions
  • Succession planning and leadership development for emerging leaders
  • Enterprise-level knowledge and experience with employee benefit plans
