Urcel R. Fields

Urcel Fields serves as Chief Operating Officer of Peach State Health Plan, the Georgia subsidiary of Centene Corporation, a diversified, multi-national healthcare enterprise that provides a portfolio of services to government sponsored healthcare programs. Urcel leads a team that serves more than 1.3 million Georgians and manages a network of more than 35,000 providers. This massive network supports the healthcare delivery of high quality Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Health Insurance Marketplace plans. Prior to joining Peach State Health Plan, Urcel served as State President of WellCare, a South Carolina Health Plan managed care company that provides health insurance to individuals that are eligible to receive Medicaid & Medicare benefits.

Urcel served as the Chief Operation Officer for Anthem/Amerigroup GA where he led the Provider Teams, Quality Teams, Operations Teams, Utilization Management Teams, and supported multiple departments setting operational tempo and strategic vision. While at Amerigroup, Urcel played a crucial role in the implementation of the GA Families 360 program which is the Georgia State program for foster children, children receiving adoptive assistance, and recently emancipated children from the department of Juvenile Justice.

Prior to joining Amerigroup Urcel led the contracting division at Peach State Health Plan/Centene as a Sr. Director of Contracting. In this capacity he led the network expansion efforts that doubled the market presence of Peach State Health Plan. Urcel also served as a Sr. Network Manager responsible for the Atlanta market for Aetna.

Urcel earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Howard University and a Master of Public Health from Boston University. Urcel is married to April and has 3 kids. He is an avid athlete, trail runner, Olympic lifting enthusiast, and loves the arts and music.
