Peter Waziri

Peter provides financial leadership for Parkland Community Health Plan’s operational and clinical management functions including network strategy, hospital, physician, and ancillary contracting, network management, risk contract reporting, medical cost containment, and growth. He also works with providers to find innovative ways to address the social determinants of health and foster greater coordination of care within the overall provider network.

“The provision of health benefits to the underserved in the Dallas County community is priceless,” he says. “Helping members seek and establish continued primary care is crucial to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”

Peter brings 25 years of progressive leadership experience in finance from both the healthcare and financial service industries. Prior to joining PCHP, he served as the CFO at Umpqua Health and the CFO at Cascade Comprehensive Care, both in Oregon.

“I got into healthcare to make a difference in the lives of others,” Peter says. “I joined PCHP because I was attracted to the mission of Parkland and the potential of growing the health plan to complement this mission.”

Prior to working in healthcare, Peter managed a financial advisory firm that specialized in M&A transactions, recapitalizations, debt restructuring, investment management, and emerging market opportunities. He also worked for global entities such as GE Capital and Ernst & Young and national banking firms such as PNC and KeyCorp, where he focused on investment and corporate banking, structured finance, and private equity. He began his career with the Institute of European Finance in Great Britain as a consultant to international banks.

Peter holds a master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in international banking & finance from the University of Wales, Great Britain.

In his spare time, when Peter is not hiking nature trails and generally exercising outdoors, he keeps busy by reading and traveling.
